Hülya Friebe, Almanya’nın Nürnberg kentinde yaşayan, kültürlerarası bir şarkıcı-söz yazarı, besteci ve yapımcıdır.
1975 yılında Hülya Kandemir adıyla Erbendorf’ta doğmuş, on çocuklu bir ailenin ferdi olarak Bavyera’nın küçük bir köyünde büyümüştür. Ailesi köydeki az sayıda Türk kökenli aileden biriydi.
Henüz 10 yaşındayken kendi kendine gitar çalmayı öğrenmiş, 16 yaşında halka açık sahnelerde şarkı söylemeye başlamıştır. Yirmili yaşlarının başında Münih’te Joan Baez gibi sanatçılarla sahneyi paylaşmıştır.
